It’s a common misconception that depression is just someone going through feelings of extreme sadness, depression is far more than that. People with depression can feel worthless, numb, self-conscious exhausted, they find they don’t enjoy the things they use to anymore
Most of us can feel depressed for a short while, but often these feelings don’t last long and then we feel better.
People with clinical depression don’t feel better on their own.
A diagnosis of clinical depression is made based on the DSM 5 criteria.
We are not sure what causes depression but it is thought that genetic and environmental factors play a major role.
treatments for depression can conservative such as exercise and talk therapy.
The main antidepressant medication are serotonin reuptake inhibitors SSRIs
